Education in Limestone is unique. The Limestone Community School was built in 1973 which features a regulation size pool, acoustical auditorium, full-size gymnasium, a weight lifting room, complete science and computer labs, a special art area, and a music room. A wide variety of extra-curricular activities are also offered ranging from sports, civil rights, and destination imagination. The Limestone Community School is fully accredited and is considered to have a physical plant unsurpassed in the state. The school is located in town covering 154,000 square feet which houses not only Pre-K to 12 grade but also shares it's building with MSSM and the recreation center. In 2009 Limestone regionalized with Caribou and Stockholm to become the Eastern Aroostook Regional School Unit #39 that was brought into law in the State of Maine, by doing this it has helped save monies for all towns and to help serve a better education to all students within the RSU. With this unique structure our secondary students who wish to study technical careers such as nursing and welding may take these courses along with other choices.

In addition to the public school, Limestone hosts Maine's first and only charter high school, the Maine School of Science and Mathematics (MSSM). The charter school was passed by the 116th Legislature and is designed to serve 150 of Maine's most capable sophomores, juniors, and seniors. MSSM has been successfully in operation since 1995. In 2011, MSSM was ranked being the 14th BEST High School in the Nation.

The Loring Job Corps provides an excellent opportunity for students to obtain their GED, and to receive vocational and technical training with certification upon completion.

Other post-secondary education opportunities are provided at the University of Maine of Presque Isle, Northern Maine Community College in Presque Isle, Empire School of Beauty in Caribou, and Husson College extension courses in Caribou.
