Limestone Police Department Annual Report
Dear Citizens of Limestone,
I would like to thank the Town Manager, the Board of Selectman, and the
Citizens of Limestone for the opportunity to return to Limestone and serve
his community as your Chief of Police. As you know the Department has
been reinstated as of 07-01-2006, and I have taken over the duties as
Chief of Police as of 01-15-2007. Since I have taken over the Officers
of the Department and myself are working diligently in our
mission of delivering the most effective level of Police Services, providing
for a safer environment, and maintaining the highest quality of living
through the optimum utilization of all available resources in partnership
with our citizens and we are looking to develop a “true” concept of
community policing.
The goals of this Department are to continue increasing the contact with
the community, both direct and indirect, with a goal of improving
cooperation and reducing crime through community education, utilizing
the community policing concept, and continued utilization of federal
grants to obtain equipment.
We would like to increase efforts on youth related offenses, including
truancy, with emphasis on prevention, education and reducing the
opportunity to commit serious crimes.
The Police Department continues to receive some income from
contract services for the budget year 2007. This contract is provided for
by the LDA. The agreed upon contract is a year long and is
approximately $ 45,000.00. This estimated income will assist in
deferring some of the total cost of the Police Department.
The review of the calls to service for the Town of
Limestone for 2006
were approximately 1,548.
Sincerely,
Stacey J. Mahan
Chief of Police
